Kalimotxo

This isn't really a recipe, more of a general guideline for a favorite summertime cocktail on Basque beaches. The name is a bit of a mystery, but likely arose in the early 1970s in Basque Country.

MAKES as many drinks as you'd like

1 part red wine, like Rioja
1 part cola (we like Mexican coke, which is made with cane sugar)
Orange peel or slice for garnish

In a glass (or a porrón!) filled with plenty of ice, add equal parts wine and cola (or adjust to taste). Top with an orange peel or slice, put on your gafas de sol (sunglasses), and enjoy!
